What I Read – August 2025

August was a fantastic reading month, full of thrillers, thoughtful nonfiction, and a touch of romance. I managed to finish six books, each one completely different from the next. Here’s a look at what I read and what I thought of them:

1. Forget Me Not by Stacy Willingham

Stacy Willingham delivers another chilling thriller full of twists and atmospheric suspense. This story pulled me in right away with its blend of mystery and emotional depth. If you enjoy psychological thrillers that keep you questioning every character, this one is worth picking up.

2. Dopamine Nation by Anna Lembke, MD

This nonfiction gem dives into our brain’s relationship with pleasure and addiction. Anna Lembke breaks down the science of dopamine while also sharing compelling patient stories. It’s eye-opening, timely, and left me reflecting on my own habits in today’s age of instant gratification.

3. And Then There Was You by Sophie Cousens

On the lighter side, Sophie Cousens delivers a charming rom-com that’s both funny and heartfelt. It was the perfect palate cleanser between heavier reads. Full of witty banter and sweet moments, it reminded me why I love picking up romance now and then.

4. The Gallery Assistant by Kate Belli

This book took me into the art world with a mix of intrigue and suspense. The setting was vivid and the mystery kept me hooked. I especially loved the atmospheric writing—it felt like stepping into a shadowy gallery with secrets waiting in every corner.

5. Caller Unknown by Gillian McAllister

I’ve been a fan of Gillian McAllister’s storytelling, and this one delivered the suspense I was hoping for. The premise of a desperate mother receiving mysterious calls set the stage for a tense, emotional read. It was equal parts thriller and heartache.

6. Heavily Meditated by Dave Asprey

Dave Asprey, best known for his work in the biohacking space, turns his attention to meditation in this book. He explores how to reduce stress and find peace using practical, science-based techniques. Whether you’re a seasoned meditator or just curious about getting started, this book offers actionable takeaways.

From dark thrillers to insightful nonfiction and a sweet romance, August gave me such a satisfying mix of reads. Each book offered something completely different, and I loved the balance.
