Addicted to You by Krista and Becca Ritchie

Addicted to You is a raw, gritty, and emotional journey into the lives of two young adults battling personal demons in the form of addiction. Lily Calloway, a seemingly shy college student, hides a sex addiction that she can’t control, while her long-time best friend, Loren Hale, uses alcohol to numb his pain. Together, they form a complex, co-dependent bond, faking a relationship to shield their darkest secrets from their families.

What stands out about this book is the unapologetic portrayal of addiction, vulnerability, and the complicated layers of love. Lily and Lo are far from perfect, and that’s what makes them so relatable. The authors dive deep into their struggles and how their shared history has shaped their unhealthy coping mechanisms. There is a fine balance between the characters’ flaws and the raw chemistry they share, making their journey both captivating and heartbreaking.

The tension between their personal growth and their relationship is where the book shines, but it can also feel a bit repetitive at times, especially when their addictive behaviors dominate the narrative. Despite that, the emotional depth and the vulnerability they display make Addicted to You an unforgettable read.

The special edition, with bonus materials, is a nice touch for fans of the series, offering a deeper dive into the characters’ worlds. While the book doesn’t shy away from the heavy subject matter, it’s ultimately a story of hope, love, and the possibility of change, even when things seem impossible. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because it sometimes felt a little too heavy on the repetitive nature of their struggles, but overall, the book is a must-read for fans of new adult romance who appreciate complex, real characters. 4/5 Stars
