Book Review: Dishonestly Yours by Krista and Becca Ritchie

Rating: 4/5 Stars

Krista and Becca Ritchie deliver an electrifying start to a new series with Dishonestly Yours, a book brimming with tension, romance, and the emotional tug-of-war between a checkered past and the hope for a fresh start.

Phoebe Graves is a fascinating protagonist—layered, ambitious, and deeply flawed in ways that feel heartbreakingly real. Her struggle to shed a life of con artistry while navigating a growing connection with Rocky, her best friend’s older brother, sets the stage for an emotionally intense read. Rocky himself is a perfect foil to Phoebe, embodying both the chaos of their shared past and the possibility of a future worth fighting for.

The chemistry between Phoebe and Rocky is undeniable, making their “will-they-won’t-they” dynamic incredibly satisfying. It’s not just romance that drives the narrative; the book tackles themes of identity, trust, and what it means to truly start over. The small-town setting, with its gossipy undertones and sense of community, provides a sharp contrast to Phoebe’s former life, enhancing her internal conflict.

However, the story stumbles in places. The pacing can feel uneven, with moments of intense drama giving way to slower interludes that don’t always feel necessary. Additionally, while Rocky’s character is compelling, I found myself wishing for deeper exploration of his perspective—it felt like there was more beneath the surface we didn’t get to see.

That said, the Ritchie twins’ writing shines, blending humor, heartache, and moments of swoon-worthy romance. Fans of their Addicted series will recognize their talent for creating characters that feel like people you know—and might even want to yell at occasionally.

Dishonestly Yours is an engrossing start to what promises to be a gripping series. If you love stories about redemption, sizzling romance, and characters who don’t always play by the rules, this one’s for you.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Just prepare to be tempted into breaking a few rules yourself while reading.
