A Few Books Set in the Hamptons

Who doesn’t love the Hamptons? I love a book set in the East Coast and of course beautiful beaches. As we inch closer to spring it has me dreaming of warm weather. Here are some recent fiction books set in or around the Hamptons that you might enjoy:

  1. “The Maidens” by Alex Michaelides. This psychological thriller takes place in Cambridge and the Hamptons, and follows a group of friends whose lives are turned upside down when one of their own is murdered.
  2. “The High Season” by Judy Blundell. This novel is set in a small town on the East End of Long Island, and follows the summer adventures of a woman who rents out her house to wealthy vacationers.
  3. “Montauk” by Nicola Harrison. This historical fiction novel takes place in the summer of 1938 in Montauk, and follows the life of a young woman who is struggling with her marriage and finds herself drawn to a local fisherman.
  4. “The Last Summer of the World” by Emily Mitchell. This novel is set in the early 20th century in East Hampton, and follows the story of a photographer who becomes embroiled in a love triangle with two artists.
  5. “Beach Read” by Emily Henry. While not entirely set in the Hamptons, this romantic comedy follows two writers who are both struggling with writer’s block and decide to switch genres and spend the summer writing at neighboring beach houses in a small town on the East Coast.
  6. “Sag Harbor” by Colson Whitehead. This coming-of-age novel takes place in the summer of 1985 in Sag Harbor, and follows the life of a teenage boy who is spending the summer with his family in their beach house.
  7. “In at the Deep End” by Kate Davies. While not entirely set in the Hamptons, this novel follows the life of a woman who moves to New York City and becomes involved in the Hamptons party scene as she navigates her newfound bisexuality and polyamorous relationships.
  8. “The Affair” by Danielle Steel. This novel is set in the Hamptons and follows the story of a woman who must confront the reality of her husband’s infidelity when he leaves her for a younger woman.
  9. “The Summer We Read Gatsby” by Danielle Ganek. This novel is set in the Hamptons and follows two half-sisters who inherit their aunt’s Hamptons house and must confront their differences and past conflicts as they spend the summer together.
